After a 38-year career serving the residents of the Borough of Conshohocken, Conshohocken Superintendent of Police George Metz—a life-long Borough resident—will retire from the police department on June 30, 2023.
“I have truly enjoyed my career serving the Borough of Conshohocken over the past 38 years as a patrol officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Chief,” said Metz. “There is no greater endeavor than service to your fellow human beings. I have been honored and blessed to provide that service to the community where I was raised.”
Metz's career with the Borough started in 1985 as a part-time patrol officer. Less than two years later, Metz became a full-time member of the police department. In 1997, Metz earned a promotion to Sergeant, a role he would serve for 17 years before advancing to Lieutenant in November 2014.
Metz was sworn in as the Borough's Superintendent of Police on June 20, 2018, following the retirement of Michael Orler.
“While I look forward to enjoying retirement, I will miss being part of our team and serving with truly great people.”
Metz will be greatly missed, but everyone within the Borough administration is very excited for this next chapter in his life.
The Borough will actively engage in an extensive search process for the recruitment of a new Chief of Police. Notice will be provided once the recruitment process begins.
