The Borough of Conshohocken is pleased to announce that it has received approval for grant funding in the amount of $350,000 through the Pennsylvania HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME). HOME funds are federal funds provided through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
“Pennsylvanians should not have to choose between paying for basic necessities or needed home repairs to ensure the safety of their loved ones,” said Governor Tom Wolf. “The HOME program provides low-income individuals with access to the affordable, safe, and reliable housing they and their families deserve.”
The grant funds will be used for the rehabilitation of single-family, owner-occupied homes through the Borough of Conshohocken’s Housing Rehabilitation Program.
The Housing Rehabilitation Program has been in operation in Conshohocken for 40 years and has completed the rehabilitation of over 200 homes of low and moderate-income residents. Rehabilitation work is intended to bring properties into compliance with local building codes and state established housing quality standards. Work may include, but is not limited to, roof and window replacement, heater replacement, electrical upgrades, plumbing repairs, concrete repairs, and kitchen and bathroom improvements. To further the safety of homeowners, all properties are tested for lead-based paint and radon. For older residents and individuals with disabilities, accessibility improvements can be made such as grab bars in bathrooms, extra handrails, first floor bathrooms and ramps. Program applicants must own and live in the home and meet U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) established household income limits.
