
The Borough of Conshohocken is seeking a Part-Time Firefighter for the Borough of Conshohocken Fire Department.
Employee will be assigned to one of the two Borough fire stations; however, the assigned station may be changed or altered as deemed necessary by the Borough. This position will report directly to the Director of Fire Services or his/herdesignee. Well-qualified candidates will be able to perform tasks independently. Candidates will be able to maintain an air of professionalism in both appearance and attitude while on duty and in all instances when dealing with the public. Employee must be self-motivated with exceptional oral and written communication skills; possess the ability to work under difficult or stressful conditions with frequent interruptions and short deadlines; demonstrate the ability to multitask and prioritize needs of multiple individuals; excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; and the ability to establish effective working relationships with residents, visitors, and the general public.
Primary workdays and hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., as determined by the Director of Fire Services. Additional hours may be required. Employee will be expected to respond to all emergencies and engage in fire suppression activities while on duty. In addition, employee will be responsible for weekly apparatus, equipment, and station tasks.
Certifications, Training & Continuing Education Requirements
The employee shall maintain the following certifications: Firefighter State Level I, Vehicle Rescue Technician or equivalent, Hazardous Materials Operations Level, Pump Operations Course, EVOC for Fire Service, EMT, CPR, AED, & First Aid. Note that applicants must have the ability to complete and pass a physical agility test. Employee may be required to obtain additional certifications and or training relating to Fire, EMS, Hazmat, and Code Enforcement related disciplines. Candidates must have a high school diploma and/or GED, possess a valid driver’s license, be at least 21 years of age, provide proof of US citizenship, and pass a background check, drug and alcohol screening, and medical and physical examination.
