NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Borough Council of the Borough of Conshohocken will consider the adoption of the following ordinance at its meeting on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 7:00 PM, in Borough Hall, located at 400 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
In accordance with the requirements of the Borough Code, the following is a summary of the proposed ordinance:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF CONSHOHOCKEN, MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, AMENDING THE BOROUGH’S CODE OF ORDINANCES BY MAKING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO CHAPTER 20 SOLID WASTE, TO ESTABLISH SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE REMOVAL OF MATTRESSES AND BOXSPRINGS; REPEALING ALL PRIOR INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
The ordinance creates specific requirements that must be met before the Borough’s solid waste collectors will collect mattresses and boxsprings. Requirements include arranging for pickup with the Borough pursuant to the Borough’s rules and regulations for bulk collection, limits on the time when the materials may be placed curbside for pickup, and requirements for placement of the mattress/boxspring in a waterproof, airtight, sealed bag. The ordinance contains provisions for penalties for failure to follow the rules and regulations. The ordinance repeals prior inconsistent ordinances and parts of ordinances, provides a severability clause, and sets an effective date.
